The God of Men and the central figure of the Nyphron Church in Avryn. Known as the Third Son of Eton and Elan, Maribor represents the grit, resilience, and ambition of humanity.

The Eternal Citadel

Maribor dwells within the Eternal Citadel in the Hallows Above, a fortress-city that represents the unyielding spirit of humanity. Its ramparts are said to be built from the first stones laid by mortals, and its halls echo with the stories of every hero who has ever defended their kin. Maribor is a stoic, determined, and protective deity who wishes to see humanity not just survive the harshness of Astravia, but conquer it through unity, grit, and dynastic strength.

In the ancient past, Maribor was the one who encouraged his children to look beyond the Sanctum's Mantle and forge a legacy that would outlast the gods themselves. While the other Aesira children focused on the elements or the immortal soul, Maribor focused on the moment—the fleeting but brilliant fire of mortality.

The Church of the Third Son

His primary worshipers are kings, soldiers, pioneers, and heads of households—anyone who bears the weight of responsibility for others. Common folk pray to him not for wealth, but for the strength to endure hard winters, the wisdom to raise strong children, and the fortitude to leave a lasting legacy.

Clerics of Maribor are the pillars of their communities, serving as mayors, generals, or trusted advisors. They care less about the letter of the law and more about the spirit of the people, ensuring that communities remain resilient against both external threats and internal decay. Their efforts generally trend toward defense, infrastructure, and the strengthening of the family unit, viewing every new child as a victory against extinction.

Temples dedicated to the Third Son are built like fortresses—sturdy stone halls with large central hearths that never go cold. Instead of delicate glass, they feature heavy tapestries depicting the history and lineage of the local people. Formal garb for religious ceremonies includes heavy tunics of steel-grey or crimson, often reinforced with ceremonial chainmail, and a belt bearing the symbol of the Open Palm.

Teachings and Signs

The dogma of Maribor is simple and unyielding. Legacy Above All: one must build that which will stand when they are gone. Resilience: the world is harsh, and so humans must be harsher. Unity: a single man falls, but a nation endures. He expects his followers to uphold the traditions of their ancestors, to defend the weak, and to ensure that what is built today will stand for a thousand years.

Maribor makes his will known to the faithful via sudden surges of stamina during exhausting labor or the birth of healthy, strong heirs. Those who have angered him—usually by abandoning their kin or allowing their lineage to rot through negligence—meet with the opposite fate: crumbling foundations, weapon failures, and the slow, tragic forgetting of their names by history.
