Our Lord in Iron and the brutal, unyielding fist of the Green Pact. Gorum is not a god of strategy, nor of the noble cause; he is the god of the fight itself. In the harsh, frozen wastes of Trent, where survival is a daily battle against the elements and monsters, Gorum represents the strength required to draw breath for one more day.
The First Battle
The clerics of Gorum claim that the Lord in Iron was forged in the first great battle of the Age of Anguish, long before the Sanctum's Mantle was fully settled. When the dust from that primordial conflict finally settled, all that was left on the field was a single suit of iron armor, animated by the sheer collective will of the dying. From that day forward, dying warriors and victorious knights alike sometimes swear they see Gorum delivering their deathblow or charging alongside them.
Gorum commonly appears as a suit of terrible, spiked plate mail possessing a pair of fiery red eyes, with no flesh visible underneath. His followers believe that his existence is tied to conflict itself; if peace were ever to truly settle over Astravia, Gorum would simply collapse and rust away, having lost the will to exist.
The Iron Priesthood
His faith is strongest among the exiles, barbarians, and mercenaries who call the Broken Lands home. To them, prayer is action. His priests wear functional heavy armor at all times, believing that readiness is the highest form of piety. They claim that the spirit of Gorum lives in all iron, be it armor or a weapon, and they take great care to polish and maintain the artifacts of war.
Temples dedicated to Gorum are more akin to fortresses than places of worship. They are built to withstand any assault, stockpiled with armor, weapons, and preserved rations. There are no sermons on morality or ethics; instead, the faithful recite the Gorumskagat, a collection of seven heroic poems that extol the glory of combat and the virtue of strength.
